THE VODĚRADY BEECHWOODS AND OTHER FORESTS

The Voděrady beechwoods are one of the few forests surrounding Prague that have not been damaged by the activities of a man. There you can see what the structure of the underbrush in central Bohemia was like centuries ago, what flowers grew here and what kind of birds lived here.

Nature trail will bring you into the most interesting parts of this mighty forest complex. The route also passes marked archeological finding place as well as round stones resembling grindstones which are, according to the experts, grinding stones which were supposed to be used for crushing of non-iron ores.

The Voděrady beechwoods are a great place for rest, relaxation as well as sports activities. Due to their division by contour lines you can very well jog here, ride a bicycle or just walk.

In the winter when snow falls, there are great cross-country tracks here. One of the foundation stones of the National Theatre comes from the Voděrady beechwoods, respectively from stone pit Kaménka that is situated in these woods.
